Storytelling is an exciting art form with multiple uses - amaze friends, generate thought, present no viewpoints, teach history (or science or peace), astound family and become the talk of your circle!

In the program 1) Hear a story (demonstration of outcome), 2) learn about storytelling, 3) learn how to find stories to tell, 4) and learn how to tell stories to others in a lively and fun manner (using my “Activated Storytelling” approach).

“Even the smallest things can realize the biggest dreams” is printed in small letters at the top of the cover of this book.  This sentence gives one a clue to the wonderful story inside.  Marilyn has taken an Oklahoman story and brought it to life for children in this book.  She has told the story of the purchase of Judy the elephant for the Oklahoma City Zoo in 1949 in clear readable text.  In addition in the back of the book in her author’s note she has given the background of how the children of Oklahoma gathered their pennies and dimes to bring a new elephant to the Zoo.  Marilyn has given sources for further reading, included language arts, mathematics, social studies activities and fun songs and art activities for most ages through sixth grade.  This is a wonderful addition to materials for children on Oklahoma during this centennial year.  Teachers will find it an excellent book to read aloud for older elementary age children and a good starting or concluding to a unit on zoos, wildlife protection, Oklahoma, and other curriculum subjects.  Storytellers, once they have gotten the author’s permission, will find it a wonderful Oklahoma story to tell all ages.  The older adult audiences will be able to “remember when” and the younger adult audiences will find it a wonderful story of the Oklahoma spirit.  I recommend this book to all school teachers and people looking for easily read stories about Oklahoma."

Spooky, mysterious, and strange tales to bring delightful shivers and inspire possibilities. Marilyn A. Hudson has been "The Ghost Teller" of Oklahoma for many years sharing stories of legend, history and her imagination. Always age appropriate!

Approx. 45-60 minutes prefer 3rd grade to 5th; 6th and up

$200.00 - add IRS mileage rate IF over1 to 1.5 hours from Cushing, Ok

2019 Space

A Universe of Tales

Throughout human history where ever people explored they took their stories with them! Along the way they crafted new stories based on new experiences and adventures. Old stories - new clothes and truly 'universal' themes!

Details:

Adaptable to time and age needs; usually 45 to 60 minutes.

1st-12th. If mixed ages, please advise so stories are developmentally appropriate $150.00 (1 hour from Cushing). Longer distances, please add standard IRS mileage rate per mile

Storyteller Relocating in Spring 2019

Marilyn A. Hudson, storyteller and author, will be relocating to the Cushing, Oklahoma area in early 2019. "I am looking forward to sharing stories, history, and writing in and around my new community.

TURN BACK TUESDAY - STORY MEMORIES

Marilyn A. Hudson Shares Skills in Storytelling for Lay Servant Ministries Training Event

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, fifteen adult students completed ten hours of training on the topic of "Telling the Stories" led by storyteller and lay servant, Marilyn A. Hudson.  Utilizing the book, Dancing with Words by Ray Buckley, the class was given a basic introduction to the art form, samples of its use across a range of age groups, practical how-to's and practice in forming and delivering a story. Some went from having never told a story to an audience to sharing several over the course of the training event!

FLETCHER BOOK CLUB HOSTED STORYTELLING IN JULY

The ELGIN CHRONICLE of July 2018 captured Marilyn A. Hudson in full storytelling mode for the Fletcher Book Club, a wonderful program for area children and adults. "Hudson Entertains at Fletcher Book Club", Elgin Chronicle (July 13, 2018).  Using costumes, humor, and delightful stories of Oklahoma history Hudson entertained and conveyed values of courage, family love, and kindness to coincide with the book club curriculum.
